The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anaesthesia and is therefore painless. On request or for more extensive procedures, treatment under sedation or general anaesthesia is also possible. A slight feeling of pressure or mild swelling after the procedure is normal and usually subsides quickly.
